Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One
JoAnn Bell

JoAnn Bell

JoAnn Bell, left this earthly realm on September 21, 2022 peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 71. She was born in New Orleans, LA on November 1, 1950, to Delores and Joseph Bell. JoAnn was a graduate of Landry High School and a lifelong resident of New Orleans, with a brief stay in Shreveport, LA after hurricane Katrina.
She was the proud mother of 4 children. JoAnn was the mother to 3 biological daughters and one adopted niece, all whom she called the love and joy of her life. If ever asked, the greatest job she had was being a mother to her girls. JoAnn was well-loved in her community. She had a passion for cooking as well as helping those in need. From Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church to Morris Jeff Elementary, JoAnn was known in the past for volunteering through catering events. JoAnn shared her gift with everyone around her, including posting recipes online. She was known for feeding the neighborhood and kept an “open-door” policy, especially on holidays. “To know her was to love her” is an understatement, as she truly showed love to everyone she met.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Delores and Joseph Bell; her brothers, John Bell and Moses Dutton; and two sisters, Gail Dupre and Rosemary Bell. She is survived by her children, Demetres Carter-Williams (Dennis), Monchielle Bolds Ducre (Raymond), Precious Bell, and Wyashika Conner (Branden); her sister, Cynthia Bell; grandchildren, Aujaquinda Nicholson, Bobby and Robert-Earl Ransom, Miko and Ashley Bolds, Chelsea Bell, Dorian McClebb, and Branden, Makayla, and Avery Conner; four great-grandchildren, Bradley, Paris, Kamrii, and Rae’Yonn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

While JoAnn’s family is grieving her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Her daughters invite relatives and friends to join them in a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 am. It will take place at Miracles Event Hall located at 3101 Bruxelles St in New Orleans.
