Cornelle Dwight Carney

Cornelle Dwight Carney , affectionately known as Nell, entered eternal at the age of 33. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Converse, Tx. He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix Carney Jr. and Carmen Delores Carney. Nell graduated from O.P. Walker High School in 2008. Being an O.P. Walker Charger meant everything to him – he was true to his orange and blue. He served his country in the United States Army as an automated data systems specialist and obtained the rank of sergeant. Nell, a lifelong learner, was certified in Marketing and Business. He obtained his B.A. from Southern New Hampshire University. Cornelle was on track to satisfy the requirements for his Master of Education from Southern New Hampshire University in the spring of 2024. He was employed by Judson Independent School District where he was excited to serve as an educator and leader in his role as career and technical education teacher, cheerleading coach, and student council advisor at Woodlake Hill Middle School. Nell was the seventh of nine siblings. On October 2, 2023, he departed this life of labor and went to his heavenly reward at his home in Converse, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory 5 sisters: Carmita Carney Reaux, Cartrell, Caryetta, Felicia, and Carnisha Carney; 3 brothers: Felix Carney III, Claudell Carney, and Darrius Butler. Nell is also survived by a host niece, nephews, cousins, adopted children, (his students) and friends.

 
 

  • A Memorial Celebration for Cornelle D. Carney will be held on October 21, 2023, for 10:00 AM at Old Zion Baptist Church located at 430 N. Johnson St, New Orleans, La 70112.
