Sylvia Taylor, age 74, entered the gates of heaven on March 14, 2026. A beloved resident of St. Bernard Parish. Sylvia touched countless lives with her fun and energetic spirit, her bright smile, and the joy she brought wherever she went. Her deep devotion to Jesus Christ guided her life and shone through in the love and kindness she shared so freely.”
Music was at the heart of who Sylvia was. She had a lifelong passion for singing and loved to lift her amazing voice wherever she went—at karaoke, in church, and at home. Her songs filled gatherings with warmth and made even ordinary days feel special. Her love for dance was just as strong; she spent many years teaching country line dancing, spreading laughter, confidence, and joy to her students. True to her style and spirit, Sylvia was rarely seen without her cowgirl boots and hat, which became a signature part of her vibrant personality.
Sylvia was active in her community and dedicated her time to meaningful causes. She enjoyed her outings at the Council on Aging, and she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Archbishop Rummel Council, where she formed cherished friendships and contributed to many charitable efforts.
As a devoted homemaker, Sylvia created a warm, welcoming home filled with comfort, gratitude, and love.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Lynam; her father, Sidney Lynam Sr.; and her brother, Sidney Lynam Jr.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Rachel Taylor; her son, Glen Taylor Jr.; her grandchildren, Kelsey Hernandez‑Moran, Tyler Tenorio, Brissa Taylor and Mya Taylor; along with several great‑grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her loyal dog, Koty, who remained her faithful companion.
Sylvia will be remembered for her faith, her creativity, her strength, and the light she carried into every room she entered. Sylvia’s legacy lives on in every smile she sparked, every song she sang, and every life she touched in her boots and bright spirit.”
