Russell “Dude” Stevenson, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in Orleans Parish, La at the age of 68. Born August 21, 1952 in New Orleans, LA to the late Neal Stevenson Sr. and Clacy Mae Singleton Stevenson. He was baptized at the New St. Mark Baptist Church by late Reverend Isaac Gaskin. Russell enjoyed his military years in the Air Force, traveling by car from the east to west coast, family gathering, and eating Louisiana cuisines.

Russell is a 1970 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School; he joined the United States Air Force December 17, 1970 and went to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He attended technical training school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Russell graduated technical training as an Electrical Power Line Specialist.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his ten sisters and brothers: Neal & Earline Stevenson Jr., Betty Holmes, Adlai & Angela Stevenson, Cynthia Stevenson, Connie Echols, Carolyn & Ronald Peeler, Cassandra & Joseph East, Alton Stevenson, Tanya Stevenson, Sandy Stevenson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Twenty one nieces and nephews, James & Linda Delong, Michael & Kimberly Delong, Steven Delong, Vikkie & Aron Grant, Jerrald Guest, Jessica Guest, Jovannah East, Jourdon East, Keenya Scott, Adele Stevenson, Adlai Stevenson II, Patrick Stevenson, Rashel Peeler, Matthew Peeler, Corey Stevenson, Sandy Stevenson, Christine Stevenson, Alton Stevenson II, Lance Stevenson, Landon Stevenson, and Logan Stevenson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neal Stevenson Sr. and Clacy Mae Stevenson.

 

  • Funeral Services honoring the life of Russell Stevenson will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Everest Baptist Church, 2837 First Street, New Orleans, La.

 

  • Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

 

  • Interment will follow at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA.

 

  • Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, all attendees must face mask..
