Onita Gail Hughes Williams

Violet, LA - Onita, age 68, peacefully entered eternal rest on May 17, 2025, at Ochsner Main Campus Hospital (Jefferson, LA) surrounded by her loving husband, children, siblings, relatives, and close friends. Born September 23, 1956, she was a loved and cherished child of the late Lovina and Lazarus Hughes. Also proceeded in death by in-laws Isiah and Mattie Mary Williams, brother David Williams sister Marilynn Alverez and one grandchild, Tatenda Mugadza. Known affectionately as "Flossy" Onita wore many hats in her 68 years, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, caretaker, decorator and cook. She shared her heart through food, sewing and traveling. She especially liked road trips with the family and grandkids. She was educated at Andrew Jackson High School (Chalmette) and Delgado Community College (New Orleans). Her legacy is filled with stories about the foreign countries she lived in, places she'd been, laughter, childhood memories and her loyal Services to Our Savior Jesus Christ. Onita is survived by her loving and devoted husband Eldridge Williams two daughters Tamara Mugadza (New Orleans) Aisha Williams (LaPlace) one son Trenton (Blake) Williams (Violet) Eight grandchildren a host of loving relatives, friends, and those who called her family. Funeral Services will be held Monday June 2nd, 2025, at Garden of Prayer FWC 2605 Munster Blvd, Meraux 70075 Burial will follow at Southeast Veterans Cemetery in Slidell. Visitation: 9-10AM.
