Artis Hicks

Mr. Artis Hicks was born on June 10, 1943, in Natchitoches, Louisiana and transitioned to be with the Lord on May 5, 2026. Artis was a devoted Christian father, loving grandfather, loyal brother, caring uncle and friend to many. Artis always loved talking about his time in the military and his time traveling the world. He was the beloved son of the late Artis Gay and the late Florestine Hicks. Artis was a devoted husband of Dr. Doris Roche’ Hicks.

Artis was the father of Dr. Monique Cook (Darrin), Mrs. Candice Coleman (Corey) and Ms. Idrianne Lewis. Artis was proceeded in death by 3 siblings. He is survived by 4 living siblings. Artis was affectionately known by “Sarge” retired from the United States Army and Dillard University.

He leaves to honor in his memories his grandchildren: Darrin Cook, Jr. Daraun Cook, Carcyn Coleman and Cydni Coleman.

Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life on May 16, 2026, at Cornerstone Methodist Church at 5276 Bullard Ave, New Orleans, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. Minister Clifton Conrad officiating.

Interment is private.
