Ruth Debra Carey

Ruth Debra Carey was born in New Orleans, LA October 2, 1953, and finished her race January 10, 2024. Ruth, affectionately known as Deedy, was preceded in death by her father Freddie Brown Sr., her mother Alzena Brown, her brother Horace Jones, her two sons Raymond III and Joseph Carey, and most recently her sister, Barbara Jones. She is survived by her husband Raymond Carey Jr., her brothers Donald Jones, Freddie (Lorraine), Elvin, and Thomas Brown. Her children Rodney, Rolinda, Reuben (Maleka), Solomon (Marissa), Ruth, Rachel, Samuel, Priscilla, Stephen, Leah, and Deborah Carey, 21 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her best friend Patricia Washington, and a host of other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was truly loved by all. Ruth was a devoted Christian, prayer warrior, and servant. She loved reading the Word of God and her faith ran deeply. She was truly the backbone of our family and community. She fought the good fight and finished her race, and now rests with Jesus. She will be dearly missed by all.
 
 

• Her service will be January 26th at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church 8282 I-10 Service Rd, New Orleans, LA 70126.

• Visitation starts at 9am and Celebration begins at 10am.

• Interment: Resthaven Memorial Park 10400 Old Gentilly Rd, New Orleans, LA 70127. Repass at FABC will follow.
