Kerry Leon Edwards, Jr. – peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the age of 77. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Kerry was affectionately called “Harry” and “Cuz.” A kind and gentle soul, Kerry was born on January 28, 1941 in Opelousas, LA to the late Kerry Leon Edwards, Sr. and Corine Fountain. He graduated from Joseph Samuel Clark High School in Opelousas, and continued his education at Grambling College, where he majored in Industrial Arts. For over 32 years, Kerry worked for Continental Trailways Bus Lines, Inc. and later for Greyhound Bus Lines. He leaves to treasure his joyful memories, his wife of 54 years, Jennie P. Edwards; three sons, Kevin, Ron and Kerry Edwards, III; one daughter, Angela (Darryl) Lawrence; grandchildren, Mary, Image, Kahron, Jyron, and Jasmine; two brothers, Clarence Breaux and Theron Edwards; one sister, Marilyn (Alfred) Broussard; three sisters-in-law, Mary (Ina) Cooper, Helen Giron and Elga Washington; two aunts, Lelia Cooper and Annie Delaine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kerry L. Edwards, Sr. and Corine Fountain Spencer; one brother, Stanley Berry; and grandparents, Horace Fountain and Ella Fountain. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:00AM at Bethany United Methodist Church, 4533 Mendez St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 8:00AM until the hour of service. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA.
