John “Tucker” Miller Smith

John “Tucker” Miller Smith, passed away on June 30, 2021 at the age 78 at New Orleans East Hospital. He was born November 7, 1942 in Demopolis, AL. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and worked at the United States Post Office. He served in United States Army, Specialist E-4, 92G, Loved attending Saints games and family gatherings.
His is survived by Daughter Jezell C. Jones of New Orleans, LA. And one son Jason M. Smith of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren Mary Ann Ebanks and Lenora Ebanks. One Brother Theodore Smith, Sr. of New Orleans, LA. Two sisters Katherine Brown of Atlanta, GA, and Daisy Owens, of Cincinnati, OH. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Smith and his parents Harry and Lizzie Smith.
 

  • Homegoing celebration commemorating his life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Abundant Life Tabernacle, 1701 Franklin Avenue, under Bishop Designate Pastor Tyrone G. Jefferson.

 

  • Visitation will be held at 9:00am until the hour of service.

 

  • Interment will be at Providence Memorial Park.

    Thanks for all the lessons you taught me as a child. Thanks for always having an open door to me whenever I needed to talk. I really appreciate the guidance and advice you gave me as a child as it kept me on the straight and narrow path and if not for you I’m. It sure if I would be the man I am today.
