Our beloved Elvira (Alvira) O’Conner Gibson peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, September 8, 2023, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 84 years old. Elvira was born on September 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Orelia Jones O’Conner and Frank O’Conner Sr. She was the wife of the late Warren Gibson who she loved dearly. She was formerly married to the late Eddie Gentry Sr. She is survived by seven children, Eddie Gentry Jr., Jane Gentry Joichin (Lawrence), Darlene Gentry Foots, Michael Gentry, Michele Gentry, Rosalind Gentry Theodore (Michael), and Karen Gentry. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, a host of great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Orelia Jones O’Conner and Frank O’Conner Sr., her devoted husband Warren Gibson, her infant son Gary Gentry, her siblings Lorena Branch Anderson, Frank O’ Conner Jr., Carty O’Conner, Orelia Wheeler, Frances Tillman, Johnny O’Conner, Rose Bias and Alvin O’ Conner and her infant son Gary Gentry.
- Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00am at Pentecost Baptist Church 1510 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, LA.
- Visitation will be held at 9:00am until the hour of service.

To the family. We are so sorry for your loss. The death of a love one can be extremely difficult to cope with. Many have found comfort in the promise found there at Acts 24:15.
